Thursday, 11/10 Still no Luke!!

Today, student research groups read about 3 methods of micrometeorite collection (Activity 1 of Chapter 3) We have a unique opportunity to collect material from BEYOND our solar system as we are between 2 major meteor showers, the Taurids and the Leonids! We will be passing through the tail of a comet! The Taurids were last week, but the Leonids will be between the 16th and 18th. Students are planning to put some kind of pie pan out in the yards of their homes (the book suggests an aluminum pan, but a pie pan or other clean pan will do just fine.) Of course, this needs to be out of the wind and away from pets! :) We will collect during class on Monday as well, so all students should bring something warm to wear as we will be outside and I think the weather will be cooler than it's been! Have a great 3 day weekend!
